We are proud to present the second
annual All-Capitol Team as selected by
BaseballSacramento.com.
The 2012 team features an expanded roster of 14 that includes three returnees
and 11 new players. Two players have batting averages nearing the .600 stratosphere, and
one--a sophomore--had exactly that number to conclude the year. Only regular season
statistics compiled from the MaxPreps web site were considered for continuity in
evaluating players (i.e. there are no playoff stats).
The team was expanded to include two more pitchers, one of which is a
reliever. We also added a designated hitter this season, that going to the lad who ended up
in the "Six Hundred Club."
Rowdy Tellez from
Elk Grove is our "Player of the Year." You can read about his terrific year at his page.
Nine of the players selected represent Division I and II from the Sac-Joaquin
Section North area. Five came from the lower divisions.
Selecting an "all-star" team always presents an immense challenge. We
personally watched each of the players selected for this team, and some more than once, in
determining the best talent in the area. Additionally, we consulted with area scouts and
coaches.
We believe this is a fair representation of the fine talent competing in the
high school ranks in the "greater Sacramento area," which extends as far north to Yuba
City/Marysville, east to Nevada Union in Grass Valley and Placerville, west to Woodland and south
to the Sacramento-San Joaquin border.

Note: We're rolling out the players by position, beginning with our Player of
the Year. He'll be followed by pitchers on Tuesday, catchers Wednesday, infielders Thursday,
outfielders Friday, Designated Hitter and Utility Player on Saturday, and coach and the
Reserve Squad on Sunday.
